Competition and training
In 2016 we had 4 adult teams competing in the West Cumbria Tennis League, all of them in division 1 after the mixed 1st team and mens 3rd team won promotion in their respective division 2 leagues in the 2015 season. All matches are played as doubles, with 2 sets against each pair with a tie break to 7 in each set if the scores reach 5-5 all.
Matches are played across West Cumbria between April and August usually on a Tuesday evening and sometimes Wednesday and Thursday evenings depending on how many teams are entered. There are 2 pairs in each team for the mens and ladies league and 3 pairs in the mixed league.
In 2017 there will be an attempt at starting a West Cumbria mens singles league, so if singles is more your thing, now is the time to join!
Anyone who is at a competent level and wants to play in the teams is welcome to play in match practice sessions. These are usually scheduled for the below times, but often 'impromptu' practices are held at the weekend as well.
- Mens team practice (Sundays 3pm - 6pm)
- Ladies team practice (Mondays 1.30pm - 3.30pm)
Once you are a member just drop an email to one of the team captains to be included in future sessions.
Throughout the year we host internal as well as club v club competitions for both singles, doubles and mixed doubles. We also visit other clubs tournaments that are hosted through out the year. Anyone can enter or arrange internal club competitions, and we have a horde of club trophies available to win!
